Tips for Perfect Prom Night Makeup

Prom night will probably be one of the most memorable and special night of your life. So, make it a fun night. This is your big night; a night you will probably never forget. It is an extra special night for the seniors; because this will be their last year of High School and the Prom is one of the most unforgettable events of the senior year. Make it a fun night to remember.

Smoky and Sultry Prom Night Makeup

Start with an eye shadow primer to keep your sultry look from sliding around all night.

Smudge dark eyeliner on both the top and bottom lash lines.

Using a smoky color like gray or black, slowly add color onto your lid, working it up to the brow bone. Be sure and blend the color out well.

Finish with a lighter color just below the brow bone to make your eyes pop.

Repeat this mantra: “I’m attending the prom. The prom is not attending me.”

Make a pact with yourself to honor your individual beauty. Remember, you’re not attempting to create a prom face. There’s no such thing, and if you think there is, you’ve fallen prey to advertising hooey. Your identity isn’t changing, so don’t try to change it.

Foundation Tips

It’s essential to have a foundation of high quality that suits your skin tone and skin type in order to look natural. Depending on your skin you should apply the foundation before or after the concealer. Make sure your skin is well-moisturized before applying the foundation - this way the makeup will blend better. Apply a small amount of the foundation to the tip your index finger and dot on the nose, chin, forehead and cheeks. Start blending in an upwards and outwards motions. Blend very carefully, making sure that there are no hard lines or patches, especially along the jaw line.

Concealer. What is it? Well, it comes in tube, liquid, tub, or stick form. It is exactly what the word implies: meant for concealing. Concealing what? Blemishes, scars, odd little spots on your skin that don’t qualify as blemishes, and even tattoos if applied properly and the tattoo is not too big and you have a spatula to apply it with. Amongst other than the just mentioned places, it’s even good for applying under your eyes if you have dark circles (from studying, yes?) or above your eyes if you have reddish eyelids. How do you know which concealer color is right for you? There are two things you need to do, depending on where you will apply it.

Rosy, Fresh Cheeks

For an innocent, girl-next-door look on prom night, follow these steps to showcase your rosy cheeks and fresh femininity. Start the look by using a small amount of foundation sparingly on any blemishes or uneven patches of skin. If you have any marks that foundation will not cover, use a concealer first and set it with loose powder. Apply a cream blush in a rosy shade to your cheeks, beginning at the apple of your cheeks and blending outward. Be sure to blend the blush well so that you do not end up with a garish, frightening look.
